working on furniture...

I'm furnishing home with Ikea-ware. That means I have something like 30 flat packs, obviously containing disassembled furniture, waiting for crafty hands (mine) to get to work.

I've been full immersed in the Ikea world, first for planning, then when actually buying and now for assembling, arranging and displaying everything. I'm enjoying every single moment of all this craziness. I know, hopeless. Must have some Mr Ikea's genes in my DNA...

I'm probably going to share some before&after shots, but I need some more time: I'm no fairy and certainly I don't own a magic wand to order things around. Assembling does take time. Bear with me, please. I promise it'll be worthy.

turning point

It's good to know that life has its own ways to shake you up and hand you the most unexpected turning points. It's somewhat comforting, this sense of cautious assurance that, no matter what, there's always a brand new thing, maybe a fresh start, just around the corner.

I've come to like changes (one thing I didn't even suspect a few months ago), and today has been a little significant step towards an equal significant change. A turning point. Sweet...

I'm still creating and crafting, but not blogging about it, 'cause I'm feeling a little private at the moment. Said turning point might have some doing in this.

Sorry for not sharing much, of late...

3. Copy and paste the Liebster award to my profile (check)

Small Blog Meet

Hello there! I'm linking up to this month Lynne's SBM (thank you for the opportunity!).

back again (hope to stay...)

Hello everyone!

I've been AWOL for the past month, mostly because my life got really messy in every possible way...

I've just realized that I missed the Bloggers' Quilt Festival - Fall 2011... shame on me! This has never happened before, and certainly I'll make sure it won't happen again any time soon...

So, sorry for the lack of blogging. Even if I haven't been active on blogland, I've been moderately productive in the sewing and quilting department. I'll show you everything in the next posts.

Thank you for bearing with me!

still here and working...

Hello everyone, I'm sorry for not being so present on my own blog... I'm still here (and well) and working on various things.

I'm going to be more wordy (is that even a word...?) very soon, but I've been having a hard time with taking photos... and I'm not fond of image-less posts. It's not a problem of my camera... I just don't have a time slot for that.

Space-time manipulation, anyone?

small blog meet @ lilysquilts

Small Blog Meet

Hi everyone!

Thanks to lilysquilts for hosting again this wonderful virtual meeting, which I'm attending for the second time.

If you are new to my blog, here you can find a brief introduction. And whether you're new or not, you are obviously welcome to browse through my posts and contact me at this address.

As for my August production, there's nothing much to say, since it's been summer vacation time.

Most of the time I planned and worked on the back-to-school thing for Smurfette#2. Well, it's more to-school, without the back part, since she's less than 8 months old... but kindergarden is quite tough nonetheless. Here's the kit I completed the last month:
bibs and towels

bib bag

change bag

tote
As for the quilting session, I finally finished my Chrysalis Sudoku Quilt, which I'm tempted to keep for myself, by the way...
front

back

binding
I know, not so productive... but I can't spend too much time in my sewing room when real life's calling, now, can I? wish I could.... don't we all to?

small new blog meet up @ lilysquilts

Small Blog Meet

(changed the above icon into the new one)

Hi, I'm linking up to Lily's blog (which is wonderful, by the way) so you all can come and visit my little space.

I'm Gio, I'm 37 (but feeling 25...) and this is me:

I wish I was a stay-at-home mom (and I badly envy you all that actually are one), but I sadly must divide my time between:
  • my two Smurfettes (#1 is almost 6 and #2 is 7 months old)

  • my hubs

  • Doggie

  • my sewing addition
  • my job (full time, at times folkloristic, at times boring, always not paid enough and I'm currently not sure if it's exactly worth it, and yet...)
  • life in general.

If I have to dream, I dream big: I wish I had my own business, and I really want it involved fabric, quilting, sewing, ... you get the idea.

But for now (till I retire, I think - and that is a very loooong time span, given the current law...) I have my blog, and quite frankly it's enough to have my little dream come true day by day!

Feel free to drop a hello, here or in my mailbox giovanna(dot)pertile(at)gmail(dot)com.

THANKS FOR VISITING!

summer vacation - part 1

Next week I'll be relaxing in Tirol (Austria) with my family, so no posts will be delivered.

I won't be sewing, but I won't be inactive either, so stay tuned for updates when I come back home.

Have a nice week!

this certainly sounds true...

I just came across these words, and I think they are perfect for bloggers...

friendships are not decided on by chance but according to our dominant passions - Alberto Moravia

... just wanted to share.
