Dialogues with Smurfette#1 (6 years old)

GEOLOGY SESSION:
Sunday, after a (very) noticeable earth tremor:
"Mom, is it the sleeping volcano (i.e. the Baldo mountain) awakening?"
"No, sweetheart, that was the mountains (i.e. the Alps) growing up."
(a brief lesson on tectonics with paper sheets followed)

THEOLOGY AND RELATIONSHIPS SESSION:
Yesterday evening, during dinner:
"Mom, I think Jesus was nice when He chose you as my mom."
"And why is that?"
"'Cause I like you very much and you're the coolest mom of all."
"Thanks, love. I like you too."
"Ok, then. So you can give me something sweet instead of that, right?" (*that* being her evening meal, obviously untouched).

I should have known beforehand... I've passed my genes onto the next generation. See the glass above? Yep, that's the Nutella glass. I'm addicted to it. No wonder my Smurfettes also are. Two out of two.

I have proofs:

It sure boosts your energy (and that's why I have the big jar on my desk at office... with a *big* spoon).

WIP wednesday #44

This week has been quite feverish, being the first week in primary school for Smurfette#1 and the first week in kindergarden for Smurfette#2... let's not dwell on that for now, I'll post about it another time. Aside from that, I got a serger (which I've not been able to use yet - remember the feverish part?) and sewed and crafted and planned...

COMPLETED PROJECTS:

- kindergarden bag: for my youngest nephew, Smurf#2

- pre-school bib: for another nephew, Smurf#1

- oilcloth diapers pouch: an organization issue is often the starting point for a new project...

- more little oilcloth pouches: after seeing my diapers pouch, Mom's asked me for smaller versions to keep in her bag for cosmetics, tissues, ... you can't say no to Mom, now, can you?

- basket ball holding net (the fishnet): I've finished the net, and now (   ) I have to invent a practical handle...

PROJECTS IN PROGRESS:

- heavy girls' bedroom blind: planned, now I need to get supplies (plastic rings, wood sticks, string, ...)

- lunch bag: on hold

- Paths in my Garden quilt (king size quilt) - on hold 

- Secret project #1 (lap size quilt) - on hold

- Chains of Love quilt (twin size quilt) - on hold for priority reasons

- Secret project #2: it's a Christmas present for very important people :) - planned and partially supplied with the right fabric...
- craft room restyling: I know, I'm repeating myself, but don't you think that once in a while some restyling is in order?
- family room restyling: this is a very much needed project, and we are slowly progressing. I'll post about it later, it deserves a specific post.

I'm back

Hi everyone!

Our mountain experience is (sadly) over, and we're back home. Our stay in Tirol has always been wonderful, but this year it was so more than that! The hotel was gorgeous, the people were so nice and everything was fantastic... well, except for the weather, which was really variable.

summer vacation - part 1

Next week I'll be relaxing in Tirol (Austria) with my family, so no posts will be delivered.

Christening day

Yesterday Smurfette#2 had her christening. It really was a fantastic day, and she was very good and nice and bouncing from sibling to sibling to get her share of hugs and kisses. She was quite the princess...

I don't have photos of the christening yet (I was a little occupied to take photos...) but I hope to have something to show you soon. Hubby took some photos with my phone when we sliced the cake (which, by the way, was fabulous).

friday in Gardaland

We have the (questionable) privilege to live near one of the biggest and most famous theme park in Italy, Gardaland. And we have two daughters. Once in a while we MUST go there.

Last friday we decided to leave our youngest (3 months old) at her granny and take our oldest (5 years old) to the park.

We hit all attractions we could, minus some which required a minimum height of 120cm... (our smurfette lacked 2cm, unfortunately). We had tons and tons of fun!

We had 6 hours of kiddy happiness, and Smurfette#2 was a bit disappointed when we picked her up at Granny... sorry Baby, it was too windy for you... next time...
